Albuquerque, N.M. – The Gladiators are seeking out their first win of the 2017 season and their sights are set on the league’s defending champions, the Wichita Force.
Even though the Duke City Gladiators have had a rough start at 0-2, they have not deviated from the goal of being 2017 league champions.
The last two losses were some of the closest games the league has seen this season. The first loss in Dodge City was literally by inches and the second loss against Amarillo was by 1 point.
Head Coach Dominic Bramante said, “We reside within the toughest schedule in the league and all we are concerned about right now is beating Wichita.”
The Force are 1-1 on the season with a win against the Salina Liberty and a loss to the Dodge City Law by only 3.
Saturday’s game between the Gladiators and the Force will be high scoring and exciting as both teams have put up some of the most points in the league. Duke City has put up 114 points in two games and Wichita has put up 94 points respectively.
Quarterback Donovan Porterie leads the league in passing yard average at 253 yards per game and 506 passing yards total. On the defensive side, Defensive Back Jayson Serda sits at the number 2 spot in the defensive rankings with 22 total tackles at an average of 11 per game.
The Gladiators play their second home game of the season against the defending league champions, the Wichita Force. The matchup takes place this Saturday March 18th, 2017 with kick-off at 4:05 PM at Tingley Coliseum (300 San Pedro Dr. NE, Albuquerque, NM 87108). Doors will open at 2:30 PM.
